Clear Vision for Life’s Important Moments
Adult Eye Exams
Your eyes are incredible organs and assessing them can tell us more than simply how well you see (though that’s certainly important). A comprehensive adult eye exam is a vital health checkup that can detect early signs of eye conditions like glaucoma or diabetic retinopathy, which often show no symptoms in the early stages. Most of our eye exams are completed in under an hour and will detect any changes to your sight and eye health.
What to Expect
During an adult eye exam, our optometrist will measure your vision clarity, check for refractive errors (like nearsightedness or farsightedness), and examine the health of your retina and optic nerve. We also measure eye pressure to screen for glaucoma and assess your risk for age-related conditions.

Protecting Vision in Your Golden Years
Senior Eye Exams
As we age, the likelihood of developing eye conditions such as cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma rises, owing to the natural aging process or factors like UV exposure, computer screens, and health issues. For seniors over 65, routine eye exams every 1 to 2 years are essential for managing these risks and preserving quality of life.
Macular degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss for people over 60 in Canada, and nearly half of adults have cataracts by age 75. Many eye diseases don’t have any symptoms before they cause sight loss. Early detection of these conditions can prevent irreversible vision impairment. Staying on top of your eye health helps you remain independent and enjoy life’s activities.
What to Expect
Senior eye exams include specialized tests for age-related eye conditions. Our optometrist may dilate your pupils to get a closer look at the retina, measure intraocular pressure, and perform a visual field test to check for blind spots. We also evaluate your current eyewear prescription for optimal vision to ensure they are updated if needed. Most eye exams are completed in under an hour.
Did you know? Eye exams for adults age 65+ are covered by OHIP every 18 months.

Children Eye Exams
Good vision is essential for a child's learning and overall development, as over 80% of what they encounter in school is presented visually. Identifying and addressing vision problems at an early stage can greatly enhance your child's chances of thriving in school and sports. Many children are unaware that the blurriness or challenges they experience with their vision are not typical, which makes it difficult for them to express what they see. After all, they have no other frame of reference. For this reason, we recommend all children have their first eye exam at 6 months old, again at 2-3 years old, and every year after that. Establishing an early baseline offers valuable insights into any potential changes in their vision, while regular eye examinations also help monitor their visual progress as they grow.
What to Expect
A child’s eye exam can be fun and interactive! We test for clarity, focus, and coordination of the eyes. We’ll check for conditions like amblyopia (lazy eye) or strabismus (crossed eyes), and ensure both near and distance vision are sharp. For younger children, we recommend sitting on the parent's lap to make them feel more comfortable.
Remember: annual eye exams for children under age 19 are covered by OHIP. For children in JK or SK, a complimentary pair of glasses can be supplied if needed through the Eye See...Eye Learn® Program.

Contact Lens Fittings & Other
Specialized Exams
Specialized eye exams address conditions or needs beyond standard vision testing. Whether you’re exploring contact lenses for the first time or require a thorough evaluation for low vision, dry eyes, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration or another condition, we have the equipment and knowledge to help diagnose and treat your vision problem.
Did you know contact lenses can now correct vision for astigmatism, presbyopia, and keratoconus? Book an exam to discuss your options.
What to Expect
Contact Lens Fittings: Our optometrist measures the curvature of your cornea to find lenses that fit comfortably and provide clear vision. There are many different types of contact lens options available depending on your vision and needs; these include disposable soft lens, rigid gas permeable or toric contact lenses (best for those with difficult prescriptions or astigmatism), scleral lenses (for those with dry eye or other conditions), and orthokeratology lenses (used to gently reshape the cornea). You will also receive guidance on how to insert, remove, and care for your selected lenses.
Specialized Testing: Exams may include a variety of specialized procedures designed to assess different aspects of eye health, such as tear film evaluations for diagnosing dry eye syndrome, comprehensive low vision assessments to determine the extent of visual impairment, or advanced imaging techniques to identify and monitor conditions like keratoconus. These thorough evaluations are essential in providing a complete understanding of an individual's ocular health and ensuring personalized treatments can be recommended to address any identified issues.
